It was 60 years ago that Gordon and Ethel Barr started their excavation company with a single piece of equipment and a promise to themselves and to their customers to provide excellence in excavation, water and sewer services.
Today, Barr Homes lives up to this dedication to quality with every home we build, says General Manager Ted Rowell, and quality and customer service are our top priorities.
In the short span of about five years that Rowell has been with the company, Barr Homes has carved a nice place for itself in the Kingston Homebuilders Community.
Under Ted's management, Barr Homes has experienced rapid growth. In the first year we built a handful of homes. Now we’re up to nearly 50 per year. A major part of that success comes from our attention to the customer’s needs and to our high quality trade partners.
"At Barr Homes we work very closely with the customer," says Rowell, "and we get them involved right from the start with a pre-construction meeting to get all the little details worked out and on the plans. This, partnered with the on-site inspection we do, helps the customer feel comfortable with their purchase and makes them a big part of the construction process."
This is the kind of service you see with a custom home builder
Once the house is up and ready to be inhabited, the Barr Homes’ warranty protection program stands out among the best. Each Barr Home is protected by the Tarion warranty program as well as a 10 year warranty on all the mechanical systems in the home including parts and labour and a 30-year warranty on the water proofing of the foundation. These warranties combined with exceptional after-sales service provide Barr homeowners with peace of mind investment protection.
Another feather in Barr Homes cap is our ability to finish a build within the projected time period – a goal, Rowell points out, rarely achieved in today’s world of home building. We typically ask for about five months to build a home, but we usually complete them in about three months.
Barr Homes is currently building in the Lakeside, Parkside, Woodhaven and Purdy's Mills sub-divisions in Kingston and have future developments planned.
