Get To Know Lubo Spisak
Lubo Spisak is a former competitive swimmer, working with US swim coach as his assistant and Olympic triathlon enthusiast who says he has found his niche in real estate. He feels “right at home” as a sales associate with Right At Home Realty Inc. selling from High Park to Burlington. It has been an interesting and challenging journey for Lubo, but all worth it in the long run. “I have my masters degree and am qualified as a high school teacher, but I’ve never taught— it’s a long story,” says Lubo. “In 1984, I defected from my home country of Czechoslovakia and spent six months in a refugee camp with my exwife.
We came to Toronto with two suitcases and couldn’t speak the language. We then studied English at Humber College. I was lucky and got a job working with a coach as his assistant, helping to train Olympians.” A chance meeting with a colleague from Czechoslovakia whowas a successful Realtor led to a career change for Lubo. “I began working with Royal LePage in 1987 and then worked for Re/Max for 21 years,”he says. In 2009, Lubo made the move to Right At Home Realty. He and his business partner, Kim Baird, formed the“Get It Right Team.”
“I believe in discipline and allmy life I have been disciplined in my athletic training and in my work,” he says. “If you want to be successful, you have to be disciplined and commit to serving your clients 100 per cent.” Work/life balance is important to Lubo. “I have three beautiful adult children—two sons and a daughter,” he says. “I’m also an athletic freak. I like to swim, cycle, scuba dive, and I was doing Olympic triathlons for my age group. I have gone skiing in several countries in Europe, but next on my bucket list is to ski in Utah and Colorado. I have done skydiving, so I can cross that off. I am also thinking of climbing Kilimanjaro. My motto is: “life is too short, so just DO IT!”Brokerage address: 1396 Don Mills Rd Unit B 121, Toronto, Ontario, M3B0A7
